Each week at the Chill on the Hill concert (at the Humboldt Park Band Shell), we will choose Bay View’s Neighbor of the Night. That night’s Neighbor of the Night will be crowned King or Queen of the Hill and thus be provided accommodations fit for royalty - seating in our Miller Chill VIP tent area - and some great prizes!

The Chill on the Hill concert series is a family-friendly event taking place every Tuesday night and parking is plentiful. Opening acts comprised of local school and youth groups will begin the fun at 6:00 pm with bands taking the stage at 6:30. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the eclectic mix of music that the Chill on the Hill planning committee is working hard to provide. This year’s Bay View Neighborhood Association annual meeting included a special awards ceremony to honor the businesses and individuals who have gone above and beyond for the Bay View Neighborhood Association (BVNA) and for the Bay View community.
The Good Neighbor Award, Volunteer of the Year went to BVNA member Brian Van Klooster for his tireless work championing the Bay View Bash.
The Good Neighbor Award, Business of the Year was presented to Bay View Homes for their instrumental support of the BVNA mission.
Bay View Homes was also recognized along with Columbia St. Mary’s Bay View Family Health Center for their much-appreciated financial support of the Chill on the Hill concert series.
This ceremony was the first to include the Mary Morris Trailblazer Award. This new award, named after the lauded and much missed Bay View activist, is intended to honor a member of the community who demonstrated initiative, dedication and commitment to Bay View through their trailblazing efforts. For her vision, hard work and leadership in all aspects of the Bay View Bash, Amy Carlson was selected as the first recipient.
In addition, members of the Bay View Neighborhood Association voted on a new tagline:
was the clear winner, reflecting the community pride of Bay Viewers.
The Bay View Neighborhood Association would like to extend our gratitude to the recipients of the Good Neighbor Awards, as well as to all of the good neighbors, volunteers and businesses who support our mission and the community of Bay View - thank you.
