Bay View Neighborhood Cleanup & Storm Water Pollution Prevention Presentations

The Bay View Neighborhood Association joins Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful in its Great American Cleanup program.

The Great American Cleanup, a national program of Keep America Beautiful, is a three-month-long community improvement program that mobilizes volunteers in communities throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

Join the BVNA as we tidy up Bay View. This is a great opportunity for school, church, and other non-profit groups to get involved and give back to your community!

Storm Water Pollution Prevention Presentations
Presented by Friends of Milwaukee’s Rivers
Saturday, April 26th, 12:30 and 2:00

Friends of Milwaukee’s Rivers will offer two power point presentations on how we as citizens can help reduce storm water runoff that pollutes our lakes and waterways. These presentations will take place at the Bay View United Methodist Church, 2772 S Kinnickinnic. No registration required. Come to one or both!

Rain Gardens and Landscaping for Stormwater Management: 12:30 – 1:30
This presentation seeks to educate about storm water runoff and prevention. It illustrates how to landscape with storm water management in mind, and gives in-depth attention to rain gardens, native plants, and rain barrels.

Environmentally Friendly Lawn and Yard Care: 2:00 – 3:00
This presentation raises awareness of the environmental impact of green lawns. It provides environmentally friendly lawn care techniques, including soil testing, composting, and minimizing use of herbicides and insecticides, and introduces feasible alternatives to green lawns.

Community Meeting with Police Chief Ed Flynn

The public is invited to a presentation by Police Chief Ed Flynn, followed by a question and answer session. District Police Captain Eduardo Negron and other police department heads are also expected to attend.

Environment and Transportation & Public Spaces joint committee meeting

A joint meeting between the Environment and Transportation Committee and Public Spaces Committee meeting will be held Tuesday, March 25th at 6:30, at Committee Chair Christa Marlowe’s home.

Agenda includes:

*Rain Garden Grant information - update, division of duties
*Earth Week activities - update, promotion, volunteers
*Domes Green Living fair - booth space

Cluster committee meeting on local public schools

This is the first of a series of cluster community meetings on issues facing Bay View’s public schools. The public will be invited to watch the proceedings and may contact the committee members to give additional input. Kids and Family Night in Bay View

Gather up your kids, parents, and neighbors and come down to Humboldt Park on Tuesday, August 5th for a celebration of community!

Our music lineup for the evening includes popular kid’s bands The Chickadees and The Figureheads. Dover Street School sponsors the evening’s music.

Meet the Klement’s Sausages and get your photo taken! See how fast you can kick a soccer ball in the Milwaukee Wave exhibit. Children’s activities, giveaways, and promotions will take place all evening long.

Bay View area non-profit organizations will also be on hand.

2008 Board of Directors Elected

The Bay View Neighborhood Association’s Annual Meeting was held February 18th at beautiful Mercy Hill Church in Bay View’s Hide House. After a recap of BVNA successes and discussion of upcoming events, new members were elected to the board.
